Mike Orren may have the innocent baby face of Ralphie from A Christmas Story, but he’s been raking muck and getting in trouble for quite some time. In his first attempt at media moguldum, he turned his high school paper profitable enough to buy computers for the class and then killed it by inadvertently starting a race riot that made
CNN. Most recently, he founded PegasusNews.com in an effort to destroy newspapering as we know it. In five years, he raised angel capital, launched, relaunched, ran out of money, won two major awards and sold the company (twice).
Mike has also served as Publisher of Texas Lawyer; a professional liar (AKA consultant) and as Associate Publisher of D Magazine during its resurrection in the early nineties. He’s been named NBC DFW’s “25 Most Interesting People in DFW”; The Dallas Business Journal’s “40-under-40″; and TXDOT’s 10 most wanted. Paul Mooney thinks Mike looks like a clueless white guy.
Mike says his favorite restaurant in all of DFW is his kitchen because his wife is such an awesome cook. (Way to pay it forward with those bonus points Mikey!) His proficiency in sign language is limited to the dirty words and he sometimes describes himself as an old bathrobe…warm and cuddly, despite the holes.
Mike lives in East Dallas with his wife, April as well as two cats and three dogs who are all smarter than your honor student. When he’s not hanging out at Dallas Comedy, House he’s sailing Lake Ray Hubbard.
You can find Mike all over the web, but try here for his infrequently-updated blog and follow him on Twitter where he’s an afficinado at the 140 character update.
